biography

Christoph Adt is a freelance conductor, based in Munich. A recipient of numerous international awards for his conducting, he studied with Thomas Ungar and Ferdinand Leitner.
He has collaborated with many soloists, such as Rudolph Buchbinder, Gerhard Oppitz, Isabelle Faust, Ingolf Turban, Wen-Sinn Yang, Sergio Azzolini and Dana Borsan. He has also conducted a number of orchestras, including the Hannover North German Radio Orchestra, the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Japan Philharmonic, the Westphalian Symphony Orchestra, the Robert-Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra in Chemnitz and the George-Enescu Phiharmonic Orchestra in Bucharest, as well as the Chamber Orchestra and National Orchestra of Romanian Radio in Bucharest.
His body of work is distinguished by contemporary pieces, in particular his arrangements of Stockhausen, Xenakis, Ligeti, Nono and other contemporary composers, which he has performed with numerous radio choirs in Germany.
Another of Adt's strengths is his commitment to encouraging a new generation of musicians. In the past, he has led the highly-respected "Stuttgart Youth Chamber Orchestra" at the National Academy of Music and Arts in Stuttgart, with whom he undertook a number of international concert tours, which were accompanied by radio and CD recordings. Also, in 1998, Adt answered the call of the Munich Academy for Music and Theatre. His commitments as a guest conductor have also seen Christoph Adt work for orchestras in countries as Central America, China, Japan, Russia, Canada and many countries in Central and Eastern Europe.
